Three Anti-Aging Tips That Aren’t Actually True

When it comes to skin health, some people are meticulous while others are just reckless, but anyone can be susceptible to false skin health tips that are abundant on the internet. You don’t want to trust everything you read because these so-called “tips” might just do your skin more harm than good and might even leave a dent in your bank account. It’s best to double-check everything you hear about skincare and self-care in general, online. This way, you can be assured that what you’re doing to your skin will benefit and work for you.

That’s not to say that some of these are totally ineffective. You just have to find ones that are proven to be true and are most well-suited ones for your skin type. To help you out, here are three well-known skin tips that aren’t actually effective:

Drinking More Water Will Help You Look Younger

It does make sense for people to drink more water if they want to look younger. However, this isn’t really true since there haven’t been any studies so far that demonstrate the effectiveness of drinking lots of water to help the skin exude a youthful glow. Many people argue that the extra moisture will keep your skin hydrated, and while that’s true, it doesn’t slow down the aging process. However, don’t take this to mean that you should stop drinking water! You still need the minimum amount of water per day — which is eight glasses — in order to stay healthy. While a different amount won’t stop you from aging, it’ll surely affect your health if you drink less.

Expensive Products Are Better For Your Skin

Just because a small tub of face cream costs more than a hundred bucks doesn’t mean it’ll solve all your skin problems. When it comes to skin products, the more expensive ones are often specialized (with unique ingredients like gold or caviar) and for cases that differ from the norm, so make sure you read the ingredients and intended use before you grab the priciest skincare products available on the department store shelf. The best course of action is to consult a professional before buying any products that you’re unsure of so that you know what you’re getting isn’t going to harm you in the long term.

Cucumber Slices Will Get Rid of Eye Bags

When we think of spa treatments, our minds immediately think of a person relaxing with cucumber slices on their face. However, while it’s widely believed that cucumber slices will remove any signs of bags under your eyes, they’ll only do so temporarily by getting rid of the swelling that you may have developed. This isn’t something that’s going to work in the long term, and if you want to get rid of those bags, you should try a method that actually works.

When it comes to your skin, you should go for tips that are tried and tested. Be sure to research and read the ingredients list instead of mindlessly buying products. Your skin’s health is not worth the risk of questionable anti-aging tips.
