This is a book for every rom-com lovers out there. If you happen to be at your most relaxed when you’re reading a cute romance novel, then this will take you to where you need to be! The basic premise is that a pair of best friends exchange emails at work, and a guy named Lincoln, who works as the internet security officer, reads these emails and happens to fall in love with one of the girls. Of course, you can predict what may happen but that’s the point!
The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein
This novel is unique in that it is written from the perspective of Enzo who is a dog. Enzo believes in the Mongolian legend which states that a dog who prepares well will actually be reincarnated as a human in its next life. So, the book is about Enzo’s journey and what he learns from his owner and family. Overall, the book is moving and touching. It is also about a dog’s loyalty and the unfailing support he provides his owner, Denny. A film was produced in 2019 based on this book so maybe you can find time to watch it after you’ve read the book — or the other way around!
Notes From a Small Island by Bill Bryson
Everyone has a different means of relaxing, and if yours is through laughter, then this book by Bill Bryson is the perfect read to get you giggling and snoozing in no time! The book is actually from the non-fiction genre and is based on Bryson’s trip around Britain. Bryson offers amusing and engaging musings on each of his stops. It is a rich mix of historical information, emotion, and comedy – just what the doctor ordered!

This is a book that isn’t heavy on the plot which is a good idea if you are exhausted by any action-packed scenes or intertwining characters and plots in a novel — these can easily get your mind riled up before bed. Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk by Kathleen Rooney
