Here’s How You Can Recharge And Relax With A Bathing Ritual

You already might be following a bathing routine. But have you ever given a thought to the bathing ritual? Having a shower every morning to clean yourself up is your daily routine. However, spending some time in the bathtub to relax, spend some time alone, and soak in the warmth of the water can restore and recharge your body, mind, and soul.

Water has curative properties, and various cultures have utilized that for centuries. There are various kinds of bathing therapy, such as balneotherapy, hydrotherapy, and hydropathy. All of them have the same purpose – relieving your body, mind, and soul of pain and stress. So, how can you engage the senses, relax, and thereby, renew yourself? Go through the following points.

Set Your Mood

Irrespective of your bathroom being small or king-size, you can perform many things to bring back peace of mind. Remove all the clutter that you have stored on your countertops. Those are distractions. Introduce some flickering candles or bring in natural light.

You can add plants and flowers so that you stay attached to nature. Play a piece of soothing music to calm your mind down. However, you are advised not to bring any other electric devices inside the bathroom. That won’t help at all.

Test The Water’s Temperature

When you are in for a relaxing bath, the water should be close to your body temperature or a few degrees more. Keep in mind that if the water is hotter than that, it can affect your skin.

It could jeopardize your health, especially if you are pregnant or have been suffering from multiple sclerosis. In case you don’t know what sclerosis is, it happens to be a condition that affects your spinal cord and brain. The tissue gets stiffened in sclerosis. The temperature should be such that you enter into it comfortably.

Introduce Aromatherapy

Adding one or two essential oils into the water can have magical effects. Adding 12 to 16 drops can be enough irrespective of the oil combination. If you aim to ward off fatigue and energize yourself, you can opt for grapefruit, rosemary, peppermint, or ginger. In case you want to get rid of the stress and anxiety and relax, you can choose from lavender, jasmine, chamomile, or patchouli.

Don’t Allow Anything To Enter Your Mind.

It would help if you made your mind quiet. It often happens that while you are neck-deep in water. You can’t stop pondering over issues related to your business, a work project, or even an argument that you have had recently. Therefore, you are surely not making your body and mind relaxed, the way you wanted to. It would help if you soothed your mind down.

You can recite a mantra and repeat it as many times you want until your mind calms down or choose an affirmative statement that you can keep on repeating as long as you don’t throw away all the clutter you have in your brain then. Your motive is to relax, and for that, complete silence in your mind is of utmost necessity. Focus on your breath while you get immersed in water.

Pamper Yourself

When you are following a bathing ritual, pampering yourself is a must. You can include some steps of personal care into the ritual. Pamper yourself with something special. Utilize the time you spend in the bathtub by applying a mask on your face, exfoliating your skin, conditioning your hair, or cleaning the entire body. The more attention you give to your physical self, the more inner benefits you receive.

Soothe Soreness

If you want to ease soreness, the bathing ritual is one of the most effective ways. You can do this easily by adding magnesium sulfate to the bathing water. Magnesium Sulfate, or Epsom salt as it is popular, releases ions, and when your skin absorbs them while bathing, the ability to counter inflammation, responsible for aches and stuff, increases.

The minerals present soften dry and rough skin and cure conditions such as psoriasis and eczema. Besides that, certain oils like rosemary, basil, ginger, arnica, etc., can cure pains and aches.

Maintain the level of care you give yourself at the beginning till you finish bathing. Never rub yourself dry after you have completed your bathing ritual. Always use a plush towel and pat yourself.
