Six Ways to Reduce Your Lip Lines
Lip lines are one of the many signs of aging for the skin. They appear as fine lines near or around the lips, which can be unsightly to look at and can make one feel self-conscious. But this occurrence of lip lines is only natural because of the aging process that the skin undergoes (yikes, aging!). If you see lip lines on your skin, then it’s time to take the steps in reducing these lip lines. Here are just a few things that you can do to reduce the occurrence of lip lines on your skin.
Keep Yourself Hydrated
Who knew that water could become an effective solution in dealing with dry and flaky lip lines? You heard that right! Water is good for the body, and particularly, to your lips! Often, the lips and the area surrounding it can become too dry, and lip lines can appear. It can be unattractive to look at, and the areas around the lips can also get flaky, chapped, and excessively dry. Make sure that you drink plenty of water throughout the day. It will keep your skin hydrated and reduce the lip lines. You can never have too much water, after all.
Another culprit when it comes to the production of lip lines is smoking. Cigarettes contain several harmful chemicals that contribute to the development of lip lines (and don’t forget the many health risks that come with it). These chemicals can age the skin, cause dryness around the lips, and contribute to the appearance of these lip lines. That’s the reason why you should stop smoking if you want to have these lip lines disappear once and for all.
Use Lip Balm
Excessive dryness is often the culprit to the appearance of lip lines. If you’re the type to have excessively dry lips, always pack some lip balm to help to make sure that the areas around your lips are made to be adequately lubricated. By doing this, you can prevent the appearance of these lip lines. If you suffer from chapped lips, there are special balms formulated to make sure your lips are always well-moisturized.
Eat Your Fruits and Veggies or Take Vitamins
Lip lines also form because of inadequate vitamins and minerals. These are essential if you don’t want fine lines on your face in general. Taking vitamins and mineral supplements can help in resolving lip lines. Also, make sure that you eat foods that are rich in vitamins and minerals like fruits and vegetables. Don’t like eating these? Turn them into a healthy drink and create your own fruit shake. You can also throw your veggies into the food processor and turn them into a drink. It might not taste good, but it would be easier to drink it down instead of chewing it if you’re not a veggie fan.
Peel and Exfoliate
While it might sound scary at first, peeling can be a solution to the appearance of lip lines. Glycolic agents can particularly help by peeling off the excessively dry layer of the skin to make room for the growth of the new skin. This quickly resolves lip lines and one of the solutions that are often used by many. There are also natural products being sold to exfoliate your lip if you’re scared of using harsh chemicals. And if you want to go for the natural and cheap way to do it, try brown sugar and honey. Mix them and rub them all over your lips and voila, natural and easy way to exfoliate your lips!
Another solution to solve lip lines is through dermabrasion. Often used to even out the skin and reduce the appearance of acne, dermabrasion can also help in reducing the appearance of lip lines. While this procedure may have some side effects and it might be a bit invasive (and might be expensive for some people), it’s undoubtedly one of the most potent methods to reduce lip lines.
Lip lines naturally appear through aging. But don’t worry, for there’s no harm in cheating aging. There’s no crime in wanting to look young and reducing your lip lines. There are a lot of solutions that you can use to reduce their appearance, don’t worry. Just keep smiling!
