After the infamous Bird Box Challenge, it’s the #10YearChallenge that has taken the center stage, and social media is completely abuzz with it. This new trend has been gaining a lot of momentum on popular social sites, including Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. The new trend got a number of nicknames, including ‘2009 vs. 2019 Challenge’, ‘The Glow Up Challenge’, and ‘How Hard Did Aging Hit You Challenge’. It’s pretty simple and, unlike the Bird Box Challenge, pretty harmless. All you need to do is post your photo from 2009 next to your current photo. Give it a nice caption. The meme started to gain ground just after the New Year. The #10YearChallenge is a way to let people and your followers know how incredibly good-looking or awkward you used to be versus how hot or alluring you are now. You definitely can replace the adjectives according to your choice, but the essence of the challenge remains the same. It’s all about the changes that you have undergone from 2009 to 2019. What Do You Need to Do To Participate In This Challenge?
Nothing much. Taking part in this challenge is quite easy. You need to share a photo of yourself from 2009, place it beside a photo of yourself from 2019, and post it on social media — be it Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. Put the hashtag #10YearChallenge along with your post. Although many prefer to post a single throwback photo, several others are posting both. This is just to show how their facial or physical appearance has undergone a sea of change in a span of 10 years. Some have grown fatter, while other people have grown thinner. There were even numerous people who outgrew their awkward phase and transformed into gorgeous individuals now! And funnily enough, a few barely changed at all. Fun, isn’t it?

Like all things going viral on social media, this one also grabbed the attention of eminent celebrities who picked up the trend pretty soon. They seemed to have found an incredible way to show their fans how hot they still are — that, too, without zero maintenance! (Chuckles) Jokes apart, Reese Witherspoon or Nicki Minaj have posted their iterations and added some nice captions along with it. Well, to be honest, neither of them seemed to have aged even a day. Celebrities like Nick Cannon and Padma Lakshmi have even gone ahead and raised it to #20YearChallenge and have gone back to 1999 and 2000! That sounds interesting! This meme, for many, was a kind of a technique that could be used to track how people age. Among all, Barbara Corcoran, the ‘shark’ investor in Shark Tank on ABC, was the most transparent one, as she confessed to having gone through a facelift. All in all, it’s really fun seeing the celebrities completely living up to this new trend with grace and style.
Can You Ace The #10YearChallenge?
Although the whole idea is to go down memory lane and to bring the real ‘you’ back on your social media timeline, many people have taken up the challenge to look younger than their actual age. While you cannot change your past, you can definitely apply some anti-aging tricks to look younger in your now-photo. Before taking up the challenge, use a facial cleanser every day for seven days at least. A cleanser moisturizes your skin, hydrates it properly, and removes the harmful chemicals and makeup that leads your skin to premature aging. On the other hand, an ‘anti-aging’ moisturizer affects your skin deeply, making it soft and supple. Most importantly, you must shield your skin from the harmful UVA and UVB rays of the sun. For that, you need to get hold of a sunscreen that has at least an SPF of 15. If you fail to guard your skin against the sun, you will soon realize the growth of wrinkles and dark spots and end up with a duller complexion and sun damage.
