Five Tips To Shed Extra Pounds From Your Summer Vacation
Are you back home from a much-needed summer vacation? You might have taken part in new activities or even gobbled on a lot of food while staying in a different city. Chances are, you probably put on a bit of weight during your vacation which you may not have noticed, but once you get home and weigh yourself, you’ll see your scale rising. So the questions is: how do you get rid of the extra weight?
To start off, we don’t blame you entirely for putting on extra weight during your vacation — it happens to most of us. Diet plans are left back home while going out on a vacation. You might have skipped your meals, ate out at restaurants, and binged on junk and packaged food during your summer trip. You might also have skipped your exercise, and all this has taken a heavy toll on your health. Unhealthy eating habits and lifestyle can lead to substantial weight gain. Here are five simple tips for you to lose your summer vacation weight:
Choose Homemade Food
Homemade food might not be as tasty as restaurant food, but it is always a healthier option. The calorie count in home food is considerably less compared to restaurant food. In addition to that, you won’t find empty or hidden calories in home food as you will be in full charge of what you are cooking at home and what you are consuming. You can also significantly reduce your sugar and sodium intake as these two ingredients are heavily used in the food served at restaurants out there.
Maintain A Food Diary
Now that you are back home from a vacation, get into a routine first. For a start, you can start maintaining a diary to keep a track of whatever you consume day in and day out. You need to note down everything you consume during post-vacation days — and every bite of it. While this might be a bit tedious, try to do it for at least a month. This way, you can have a realistic view of what you eat and keep a track of what goes down your digestive system. It might be easy for you to make certain changes in your diet plan too if you follow a routine and maintain a diary.
Start Doing Workouts
Workouts are not enough for you to get rid of all the extra pounds that you have accumulated during your vacation. However, it can really go a long way in enabling you to switch to a healthier lifestyle, plus you can burn your extra pounds, too. Doing workouts on a regular basis is indeed a great idea, and if you can pair it up with a balanced nutrition plan, it can help you burn a whole lot of extra calories. Even if you do not have gym equipment at home, you do sumo squats, crunches, burpees, triceps dips, jumping jacks, mountain climbers, and Russian twists without leaving your house. Take the help of a fitness trainer if you need one.
Drink Plenty Of Water
Drinking water is an evidence-backed means to lose weight. While it’s the most well-known way of losing weight, you might find out that you actually drink very little water. Drinking more water would help you eat less, and you will be in full control of your appetite if you consume a lot of water throughout the day. Always carry water with you and drink at least six to eight glasses of water every day. The more you drink water, the better it is. Your body will definitely thank you for this.
Do Not Eat Late At Night
Having quick bites after having your dinner can potentially lead to weight gain, and your weight loss efforts would surely be affected if you make it a habit. Our metabolism gradually slows down during the last few hours in a day, and when you eat after completing your dinner, you are already in the risk zone. This is because your body doesn’t get enough time to burn the extra calories. It goes without saying that you should also refrain from eating junk food during this period.
If you have gained a lot of weight during the past month, you should also consider consulting a nutritionist in your area as you can get a personalized diet plan by doing this.
