Tips On How To Take Care Of Your Skin This Coming Winter
During winter, many people wish they could hibernate. Among other devastating effects, the season takes a toll on the skin due to the cold weather. Therefore, you need to know how to take care of your skin to keep it healthy and nourished throughout the season. To help you with this, we have some tips on how to look after your skin this winter.
Limit Your Outdoor Time
Winter is the perfect time for activities such as skiing, skateboarding, and ice-skating. Nonetheless, it is important to limit the time you spend outdoors for the sake of your skin. By so doing, you prevent the cracking of the skin which may result in hypothermia if you stay out too long.
It would be helpful to install heaters in your house to keep you warm from the winter breeze. A fireplace is also good if you have one. Also, wear thick clothes and cover yourself with thick blankets when you sleep to keep your body warm.
Always Carry a Mister With You
Whether you are indoors or outdoors, have a mister with you at all times. This will keep your skin moist against the dryness from the dry air. Spray the mister at least five inches away from your face and ensure that it does not contain irritating ingredients.
Ensure You Wash Your Face and Take a Bath Twice a Day
With the dry air you are exposed to during the winter season, it is important to remove all the dirt and oils that have dried and accumulated on your skin. By cleaning your skin, you enable it to breathe easily. Taking a bath and washing your face daily will also restore your skin’s moisture and natural glow.
Exfoliate and Scrub
Most people do not consider this option because they think that it might irritate their skin and cause damage. On the contrary, it is great for your skin. Exfoliating and scrubbing remove dead skin cells, leaving room for new skin cells. However, do not overdo it because it might irritate the skin
Under extreme dry weather condition, your skin needs extra moisture besides the moisture it excretes. This will help your skin to rejuvenate while shedding off dead skin cells. However, be very careful when choosing moisturizers. Stick to a moisturizer that can easily be absorbed and used up by your skin, especially a non-fragrant, cosmetic grade essential oil. Also, choose a heavy emollient cream. For your nighttime routine, use a robust lineup.
Keep a Bottle Of Water At All Times
Still, the best and first-line-of-defense against dry and cracked skin is keeping yourself hydrated at all times. Your body is made up of 70% water, and so is your skin. It is important to have at least eight glasses of water every day. Also, splash your skin and face with a small amount of water to keep them moist.
