These Things Make Us Look Older Than We Actually Are

Although we all want to stay young, sometimes we do things that make us even older. We are not aware that many factors have an impact on our appearance—the colors we wear every day, our makeup, hair color, etc. It is not easy to notice that we are actually doing something wrong, especially if those things became a part of our everyday routine.

In order to remove these habits from our lives, we should be able to notice them first.

Here are seven things that make us older than we actually are.

 Blond hair

Dyeing your hair in a lighter tone doesn’t look very nice or natural on all skin pigments. Furthermore, it can age you significantly. The point is that most skin types become yellow or sallow as we get older, so this isn’t always looking good with blond hair. Instead of matching skin and hair tones, you should counteract these two. For example, if you have olive skin, dye your hair deep brown; if you have a paler skin, dye your hair with light brown color.

 Lifting too much weight at the gym 

This doesn’t necessarily mean that you should quit exercising. However, overworking big muscles such as quads, biceps, or triceps, causes sagging in the long run. Since connective tissue loosens with age, these overworked aging muscles produce really undesirable skin tones. It is definitely better to focus on muscles around the larger thigh as well as on the belly, which will make you look balanced. Don’t forget to use only weight under three pounds with more repetitions, for the best result.

 Dry hair

Stiff hair can age us more than anything else. The hair needs special care all year long. It needs moisture as we get older. The best advice is to use better and richer hair products for our hair type. This will enable best possible results we can achieve. Furthermore, you should use a conditioner and a hair mask at least once a week. Besides helping your hair to look shiny, it will make it soft and easier for shaping, which will eventually make you look younger!

 Over-exfoliated skin

We all know that exfoliating does amazing things to our skin. It removes dead skin cells and brightens our ten, which makes us look beautiful. However, over-exfoliating your skin may be very harmful to you. Dermatologists say that new skin cells should not be exposed to elements before they are ready, and this is what happens if you over-exfoliate your skin. You should be especially careful with rougher forms of exfoliation such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, laser resurfacing, etc. The best possible solution is to exfoliate your skin once in a week or two in your own home.

  Wearing old bras

Many women don’t even know their right bra size, which may further contribute to their incorrectly fitting bras. Other women wear the same bra sizes they have always worn, not even thinking that their bodies have changed with time. This is really important since it gives us a feeling of comfortability or a real nightmare below our shirts. The first thing you should do is make sure that you wear the appropriate size of the bra. You can visit a store to get professional help. The good and correctly fitted bra will improve your posture almost instantly, and even your clothes will look better on you.

 Coffee over water

The most important thing for the skin is to be hydrated from the outside. This is an essential component to remove all the toxins from the system and further look good. Water should be the first beverage on our list, with no competition among juices, teas, or coffee. Of course, this doesn’t mean that you should not drink anything else, but remember that water is your priority! Coffee or alcohol both have a diuretic effect, which won’t be helpful for your inner hydration. When there is not enough hydration we age faster.

 Dull colors

Clothes with gray tones can make you look older. This rule applies particularly to the colors you wear closest to your face such as scarves. Don’t ever choose gray tones beside your face. If you love gray tones, try wearing some other clothing item in this color. Try to wear scarves in lively colors like orange, light purple, or light pink.
