These Are The Absolute Craziest Anti-Aging Treatments People Have Tried & Swear By

Aging is something we cannot escape. As there is increasing desperation to find miracle cures for the signs of aging, the means by which to achieve this is growing stranger and stranger. Admittedly, some of these treatments do actually work, but that doesn’t mean it eliminates the weird factor! Here we outline some of the craziest anti-aging treatments that have emerged in the beauty industry over time. Many of these treatments have been borrowed from ancient civilizations and modified slightly by modern technology. Keep reading to find out the whackiest ways to get that youthful glow or to rid your face of those wrinkles creeping up on you!

Breast Milk

Breast milk has long been considered a miracle cure for all sorts of ailments from acne to infection. Recently, it has been speculated that slathering it on your face can rid you of wrinkles. A word of caution here – disease can be transmitted through breastmilk, so it is advisable to use your own breastmilk or at least someone you trust completely. Buying breast milk online is not a good idea!

Sheep Placenta

Looking for sheep’s milk is challenging enough, but you will be surprised to learn that sheep’s placenta is more easily available! The idea is that sheep placenta is packed full of nutrients that will leave your skin nourished and glowing for a month long. Victoria Beckham and Simon Cowell are two celebrities bold enough to have tried this out.

Blood Facial

Right, before you go and rush off to smear somebody’s blood all over your face, let’s make this clear – the ‘vampire’ facial, as it is known, is a treatment in which your face is injected with your own blood. The treatment grew in popularity after it was used by Kim Kardashian way back in 2013. Kim later came to regret having done the treatment, but she didn’t deny the benefits! Blood facials are believed to assist with stimulation of collagen growth, all thanks to the platelets that contain growth factors!

Gold Treatment

Forget making yourself feel like a million dollars with gorgeous necklaces and bracelets, gold will have you looking fabulous when used as a facial, too! The beauty benefits of gold have been gaining attention gradually, and there are gold-infused skincare products that can be purchased as well. Bar Rafaeli created a commotion when she had a liquid gold facial done in 2014. The science behind this treatment is that gold ions increase regeneration of your body’s skin cells, decreasing the appearance of wrinkles and lines, and improving the elasticity of the skin!

 Cryogenic Chambers

We doubt anybody enjoys the sensation of bitter cold – chattering teeth, goosebumps all over your skin, the cold biting at your body. However, there is an idea that cryogenic temperatures below 200 degrees may actually have significant anti-aging benefits! Among the many benefits are boosting your metabolism, promoting collagen production, and getting rid of cellulite. This treatment takes place in a 6-foot chamber flooded with cooled nitrogen gas, and you can book an appointment at a cryosauna.  After about 3 minutes in the freezing cold, you are required to do 30 minutes of light cardio to get the blood moving again. Unfortunately, the benefits are short-lived, so you’d better have your credit card ready if you’re looking for long-term benefits as you’ll be visiting pretty often!

Snail Secretions

While this is one famous treatment for wrinkles and discoloration, it sure doesn’t make it any less gross! It has been proven that snail slime consists of many potent nutrients and ingredients that significantly address the signs of aging. Snail mucus has been introduced in many ranges of skincare and seems to have many loyal users that swear by it.

Fire Facials

In China, there is a crazy idea that setting yourself on fire will have you looking younger, slimmer, and wrinkle-free! Of course, it isn’t that simple. There is a spa service that administers the unique fire facial, which involves the use of an alcohol-soaked towel and a secret elixir that is rubbed on the face and body. The towel is then set alight for a few moments. It is believed that the treatment leads to positive stimulation of the skin, addressing sagging, dullness, and even wrinkles.

So, what will you be trying? The adventurous snail serums, perhaps? Or the daring fire facials? Well, there have been worse experiments done in the name of beauty. On the bright side, these treatments aren’t permanent and you can try them out without anyone knowing what you’ve done (unlike cosmetic surgery!)!
